Reply of the San On Magistrate.

San On Magistrate Chin acknowledges the receipt of my communication regarding the rumoured attack from Tung Kun; points out that Wai Tak and Pan Tin are within the jurisdiction of the Tung Kun district and states that he has communicated with the Major of the Left Camp requesting him to detach troops to maintain order and will also address a communication to the Tung Kun Magistrate so that he may take the necessary action; also states that he has issued instructions to the gentry and elders of Po Kak, Sha Tan, and Hong Kong, to warn the people and prevent their clansmen from proceeding to Pat Heung to create trouble which will involve arrest and punishment and that he has sent braves to maintain order whilst he himself will repair to the places within his jurisdiction to investigate the matter and to disperse any persons who may have collected together.
